A Colorized Lookshelf

1) Who are you and where are you?

My name is Lauren and I live in a suburb of Boston. (This is where I have to say I'm not FROM Boston, I moved here two years ago from NYC.)

2) What do you do for work?

I work in publishing... surprise!

3) What do you do for fun?

Going to the movies, keeping journals (for 3.5 years I wrote down the number every subway car I rode to track which car I rode the most often - D 2727. I also have kept a journal of all books I have read for the past 5 years).

4) Tell me something about your bookshelves.

This photo is only part of one of my bookshelves. This one is in my guest room and is filled with books I have read and organized by color. I also have a bookshelf of journals and bookshelf of books I haven't read yet, children's books, and absurd theater.

5) Tell me something about ONE of the books on your shelf.

I read The Bell Jar by Plath during an unexpected bout of unemployment after moving from the city I love to the boyfriend I love. I was accompanying him on a business trip in Lewiston, Maine, in the middle of the winter. This is the exact situation that I recommend NOT reading Plath.

I love colors and am quite jealous of your rainbow shelves! What a great idea!

I agree, the colorized look is SO beautiful!

That's such an unexpected but beautiful image. I never would have even conceived of organizing books by the color of their jackets.

I'd be interested to see if the "cool" books and the "hot" books are distinctly different underneath the covers.
