A Viking Trilogy Lookshelf

1) Who are you and where are you?
My name is Jordan and I'm currently living in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
2) What do you do for work?
I am currently a Sales Representative for Canon Canada Inc.
3) What do you do for fun?
For fun I usually play sports, watch movies, read a book or more likely head out with my friends for drinks and storytelling.
4) Tell me something about your bookshelves.
Well, this is my one and only bookshelf. It houses all my books including a few left-over university books. It sits at the foot of my bed so I'm constantly looking at it to determine which book I want to read next. Currently I've only read about 70% of them and I'm working hard towards reaching 100% however I seem to buy more books than I read so it may never happen.
5) Tell me something about ONE of the books on your shelf.
Viking Trilogy (top shelf immediately left of the Bible). Basically they are a fiction based around a character that actually did exist. He was a monk who was commissioned in a Catholic monastery to copy scrolls however instead of doing so he actually wrote his life story. However, after his death the monastery discovered what he had been writing and the majority of his work was destroyed.
He was a Pagan who had devoted himself to the Norse Gods, namely Odinn (the "head" god in Norse Mythology). With what the author discovered from the remaining work he then chose to fill the holes of the story. He did so using plausible fiction based on Norse tradition and history. The lead character's journey takes us from its original setting in Iceland, to a little island on the east coast of Canada called Newfoundland and then proceeds to continually head east all the way to Jerusalem.
I greatly enjoyed this fiction trilogy even though I usually don't read or enjoy fiction. The author's use of Norse history, tradition and mythology kept my attention throughout the novel and in fact taught me more about Norse mythology.
